Onde-onde

Onde-onde pronounce as(onday-onday) is a traditional malaysian food. Tried to make it on last sunday. It was a complete successful for first timer :P.

The ingredients including rice flour,glutinous rice flour (tepung pulut), brown sugar (known as gula melaka by the local), and a bit sugar and coconut (grated).


The process of making onde-onde is very simple. You need to mix all the ingredients in one big bowl. Make sure glutinous rice quantity is more than the rice flour. Mix those flours with a bit water till it turn to dough. Take a small portion of the dough and shape it round. Make a hole at its center and put the brown sugar (push the sugar till it stick inside the small dough). Close the hole and make a perfect ball-shaped onde-onde.

Here come the cooking process...you need to boil water (merely water no added ingredients). Put the onde-onde inside the boiling water. At first the onde-onde will sink... don't be alarm that is the nature. Once afloat it is ready for the final touch.

The Final touch...roll the onde-onde on top of grated coconut. Before that mix the grated coconut with a bit salt. Serve it hot or cold.
